M.Sc. or soon graduating B.Sc. student to maintain an EU project website - Aalto

Are you interested in smart grid security, excellent with people, and capable of maintaining a web site with Wordpress? If so, then you are the person we are looking for.

We are looking for a student (or equivalent) to maintain the content of the website of the EU H2020 project PHOENIX https://phoenix-h2020.eu. The most important task is to communicate with the 25 partner organisations in the project, get people in the project to write blog posts, to publish the blogs on the website, and to make noise in the social media about what is happening in the project. In addition to that, the maintainer should create separate pages on the events, deliverables, and other products coming out of the project.

The position is a great opportunity to learn how to collaborate with organisations all over the Europe and simultaneously acquire a rare view to what is happening with the security of the electric grid that is serving all us. The PHOENIX project involves shielding the grid against complex incidents and extensive cyber and privacy attacks.

Your network and team

The work will mainly take place in prof. (PoP) Pekka Nikander’s group, at the Department of Communications and Networking. In the EU project PHOENIX, there will be altogether 25 organisations, including two universities: Aalto and RWTH Aachen. In Pekka Nikander’s group there are currently one postdoc and four Ph.D. students, with quite diverse backgrounds of software architecture, security, business design, and mathematics.

Your experience and ambitions

An ability to communicate with people across different cultures is a must. Furthermore, if you are able to persuade people easily, your task of getting blog posts will be much easier. Prior experience in maintaining a Wordpress based website is a definite plus; however, if you have experience in maintaining other web sites and willing to learn Wordpress (on your own) that is also fine. Prior understanding of what is the so called smart grid would be nice, but can be learned along with the work.
